Waterfalls, caves and aboriginal culture along one of northern Taiwan’s most beautiful roads

UPDATES:

September 2011

Renovation of the facilities at Siaowulai Scenic Area has now finished, and the new, Grand-Canyon-style Glass-Floor Skywalk jutting out over the cliff in front of the waterfall is open. To make are area more accessible Taoyuan County Government has also started a new shuttle bus to the waterfall from several towns in the area, including Daxi. Unfortunately no details yet, though, so it’s best to ask in Daxi.

TRANSPORT:  See links nos 14 and 15 in the Website Links section

Currently, buses from Dasi to SiaoWulai depart at 8.15 am and 12.15 pm only which might be useful for people who plan to climb BeiChaTienshan from this side as well as visitors to the waterfalls.

      Hi Lyndon,
Thanks for the news! Sounds like the regular Taoyuan Bus Company service. I heard there was also a new shuttle service for the newly tarted up Scenic Area, but maybe it’s not been introduced yet!

      Hi Dave,
Thanks for writing. Yep! Three of the walks in Taipei Escapes use them. The’re pretty useful in some places around the island, especially for getting around the mountains of Miaoli, where there’s quite a good service. They’ve been a bit unreliable in the early stages – cancelling services, re-routing, etc, but have hopefully settled down by now!
