Waterfalls and wilderness hiking in the foothills of the central mountains

UPDATE: The trail through the Full Moon Forest Park is impassable at present. See the Yuneixi Ancient Tree Grove page for further details: https://taipeiescapes.wordpress.com/taipei-escapes-2/walk-38-yunei-stream-ancient-tree-grove/

The trail up to Cloud Forest Waterfalls is apparently open as usual.

W37:Several landslides in the area. Accessible only to Forest Mountain Falls, after right turn is almost sheer drop due to landslide.

From step 1: “[For Sisters’ Falls, continue straight ahead at the bend…In a minute or two it drops steeply down to the water’s edge (there’s a fixed rope), and from here it’s a 15-20 minute hike upstream…]

I sure as heck could not find a rope or any other way down to the water’s edge.

Yep – the old rope has gone as the landslide got a lot bigger a few years back. We usually VERY carefully pick a way down the landslide to the bottom. It’s tricky and you need to be very careful, but it’s possible.
